We had a wonderful stay in the Forge in August 2009, it was perfect! Superb accomodation, great local food and wonderful countryside. A big thank you for our early morning breakfast! We have already booked for 2010 !

My partner and I couldn’t fault this property – beautiful setting, very well equipped including a plunge pool to cool off in and daily maid service, peace and quiet away from the main tourist spots. but within easy drive of a lovely beach and fascinating sites, owners very friendly and helpful, local people charming. We enjoyed every minute of our two week stay there.

Very comfortable cottage, lovely surroundings, friendly and helpful owners and staff. Actually, all the cottages look fab – difficult to choose! Lots to see and do within easy distance. Good variety of restaurants in the valley and more in Fethiye.

A bit nervous to write about this paradise…it’s been our ’secret’ and do we really want to share it?!!!!!
We absolutely love this cottage and have had 3 fabulous holidays there! It is just so comfortable and unusual, and we had such a surprise to find a plunge pool there this year! The cottages are in an idyllic location…. quiet and secluded, but within easy access of great beaches, interesting historical sites and many great places to eat too…. in short a perfect holiday!!! And we too have already booked for 2010….

Myself and my daughter Ayse had a great time at the cottage. The peace, calmeness and tranquilty was just amazing. I’ve been abroad on many occasions and I must say being at the cottage with the peace that was needed from work and life stresses was one that will not be forgotten. The sites and restaraunts are 100% class, with friendly people and great weather and stars in the night just was bliss. I’m gonna be going again very soon. The sea is very close, there is night life if wanted, bars, entertaiment, or just peace with a good book and serenity is on the cards.

Had a wonderful time early September. Had sheep, tortoise, kittens, chickens and a cockerel as neighbours ; 2 weeks of bliss. We will be going back to see Sandy & Jon again and not to forget Gonul their manager, who was a mine of information and most helpful. The cottage was peacefully situated in the village with great views from the balcony ; this place is not to be missed. Most eating places in the village highly recommended.

I’m not sure that I really want to write a review if it means that the secret of Sakli Vadi, the hidden valley and the cottages get’s “discovered” !
I and two friends arrived at the cottages on an unseasonally wet and windy December night and were greeted by Gonul, Sandy and Jon’s manager, who showed us to our individual accommodation ; I was in The Forge. The cottage was warm and cosy and a welcome hamper of foodstuffs was provided, including a rather good bottle of the local red wine (so good I brought six bottles back with me !).
The accommodation was very thoughtfully laid out and all the cottages were cleverly finished to provide all modern comforts and conveniences, within a rustic framework which nestled happily into the surrounding environment.
After a very deep sleep, I was woken the next day by the sound of cockerels from the valley below and as I wandered out onto the first floor balcony for breakfast I thought that I must have been teleported to a make believe world ! The views, sounds and smells belonged to an age long gone, and if at that moment Mustafa Kemal himself had ridden into the valley, I should not have been surprised.
The location is as perfect as the surroundings, sitting high in a hidden valley between bustling Fethiye and some of the most stunning beaches in Turkey such as Oludeniz. There are masses of historic places to visit in the area, many of them UNESCO world heritage sites.
My favourite cottage was The Forge. They are all unique and special but mine was totally home from home. I will undoubtedly be going back to The Forge later this year to enjoy full use of the outside facilities, like the plunge pool and bbq, during the warmer weather.

What a wonderful little corner of Turkey, and an excellent little cottage to stay in. The weather in April was warm and sunny almost all the time, and the balcony and garden were very relaxing and peaceful (unless you count the chicken/goat noises from over the wall!)
The surrounding views are mountainous, and the local beach is just an hour’s walk, or a quick bus/drive away. Resturants in the nearest village are plentiful and all the locals very friendly, particularly Gonul, the cottages’ manager. Supermarket and other amenities can be found in the nearby town, and for real Turkish markets Fethiye is also accessable by car or local bus. But most of the time we just stayed put and enjoyed the slow pace of life.
This place is simply a little oasis from busy life, with a sky very full of stars.

Beatifully simple and simply beautiful. The Forge is a slice of peace and tranquility set in wonderful surroundings and blessed with a superb climate. Our time there is filled with treasured memories of early morning breakfasts on the balcony and late evening meals accompanied by colourful sunsets. Frequent dips in the pool just added to the magic of the holiday. As we’ve found before the Turks are a very friendly people and if you learn a little Turkish you will be treated like a long lost brother. Can’t help it but we are envious of all who have or will experience the Forge.

The first fortnight in July 2010 was sunny, very hot and dry. We had stayed in Sakli Vadi before but not in The Forge. We loved the view to the west from the balcony which was a lovely place to have breakfast watching the hens with their growing chicks. It was a bit too sunny and hot for one of us in the evening until the sun had set. But later, after dinner, it was the place to watch Venus setting to the beautiful sound of the scops owls and a glass of iced Raki. Then, shortly before we left we watched the beautiful slim new moon setting – perfectly magical!!
The plunge pool and the air conditioning in the bedroom both worked very well at cooling us down when the need arose. Gonul was round within minutes on the couple of occasions when we needed help and Nevin kept us neat and tidy at all times.
We ate out every evening for a fortnight and particularly liked the local Village Garden and Levissi, and further afield the Indian Restaurant “Shine” in Hisarönü and the “King’s Garden” under the rock tombs overlooking Fethiye.
We visited Gocek, Kadyanda and Tlos all of which were easy drives, well worth visiting and provided pleasant places to have lunch. We also went on a boat trip provided by Natalie and Ertan which was a lovely day out on one of our 65th birthdays. One small quibble – the boat went from Oludeniz beach, and it was a bit tricky for us pensioners (the birthday girl having one metal knee already) to get to and fro across the beach to the boat. Any similarly stiff oldies might consider a boat trip from Fethiye instead !
